Rahab’s Lie.

In Joshua chapter 2 we read the story of how Rahab hid the two Hebrew spies from the soldiers that were searching for them. In verses 4-6, we read how she lied to the soldiers to send them away so that the spies could sneak out later. There are different theories regarding this, but this seems to be a circumstance when it was permissible to lie. One theory states that the lie was permissible because of the dire circumstances and because it was in a time of war.
Given this analysis, I have to pose a very important question. If it was okay for Rahab to lie in the situation described in Joshua, is it okay to lie to a 3-year old? I am not sure, but I think a 3-year old screaming for something is just about as dire as war.

Sorry Sarah, I could not resist.
Her Sunday School teachers would never believe this picture, because she doesn’t talk there.
