The Christian Mind

It has been said that the mind is a terrible thing to waste and in his book, Love Your God With All Your Mind, J. P. Moreland shows that the Christian mind is being wasted. The title of the book references the Great Commandment as explained by Jesus where he quoted from Deuteronomy 6:5 but added to love God with all your mind as well as your heart and soul (Matt. 22:34-40).
Moreland believes that the Church has lost sight of loving God with our minds and I think he is right. We have separated reason from faith and segmented our lives with a spiritual life on the one hand that is marked by emotions and blind faith and a secular life on the other that is marked by rationality and reason. It is time we get back to understanding that there is reason behind our faith that is more than just an emotional or gut feeling.
